European country, Sweden? Apparently not. According to www.thelocal.se, Sweden's Royal Family just isn't willing to relent. For those unaware, Sweden has been under a "constitutional monarchy" since the dinosaurs existed (I say this loosely). It appears that the Family is just for show, but obviously they think they have greater importance in the country and that is why their law of succession is "corrupt." The King, Queen, and Prince all agree that they are not ready to give up their title, but are there people out there willing to overthrow the Royal Hiennies. More news on the succession will be following!

Why should Sweden abolish the century old Monarchy? To replace it with a costly presidential system à la USA? Every Swede has the right to enter politics and get elected to the Riksdag. The separation of a representative head of state and an acting prime minister has many advantages. A US president is both and in your euphoria over Barack Obama's starting his first term you seem to forget how disastrous the presidential system worked under George W. Bush. No vote of confidence could force him to step down. Any Swedish prime minister can be replaced at any time when he is losing the Rikdag's confidence.
